    Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) criticized the exclusion of marijuana and hemp banking provisions from a key spending bill that was approved by the House Appropriations Committee.

    Meghna Patel, deputy secretary of policy and planning in Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s (D) office, said lawmakers should stop introducing new competing marijuana legalization bills and instead focus on building consensus on the issue—emphasizing that any measure that advances needs to contain equity provisions if the governor is going to sign it.

    Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said to “stay tuned” for future action to address intoxicating hemp products that may be “happening soon” after lawmakers failed to pass legislation on the issue during two special sessions this summer.

    The Massachusetts attorney general certified and issued official summaries for proposed initiatives to recriminalize recreational marijuana sales that prohibitionists filed for the 2026 ballot.

    A poll conducted by the Minnesota House of Representatives at the State Fair found that a plurality of respondents support allowing cities and counties to ban marijuana businesses in their communities.

    Texas hemp businesses are celebrating lawmakers’ failure to enact a ban on consumable products with any amount of THC, and activists say the state is closer than ever to legalizing recreational marijuana.

    The Fish and Wildlife Service noted in a Federal Register filing about the endangered or threatened species status of fishers in California and Oregon that “the presence of anticoagulant rodenticides (AR) within select areas has been an ongoing concern given the prevalence of illegal cannabis cultivation operations that use poisons to kill rodents that damage their crops.”

    The National Institute of Standards and Technology will host an event on cannabis breathalyzer technology on September 24 and 25.

    Maryland’s comptroller reported that the state collected more than $18.4 million in cannabis sales tax revenue last quarter.

    Arkansas regulators could soon award two additional medical cannabis dispensary licenses.

    The Colorado Department of Transportation sent a reminder that it is illegal to drive under the influence of psilocybin.

    The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission will meet on Wednesday.
