Congressional leaders released a deal to fund the government that includes provisions to recriminalize intoxicating hemp-derived THC products and excludes provisions to let Department of Veterans Affairs doctors recommend medical marijuana that had been passed by the House and Senate earlier this year.
Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates discussed marijuana legalization at a forum, with some saying they want to use cannabis revenue to fund expanded broadband access in the state.
The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska is pushing back against threats from Gov. Jim Pillen (R) and Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) that people who purchase marijuana under its legalization program could be prosecuted by state officials.
A new poll of Ohio adults found that 61 percent believe marijuana dispensaries are having a positive impact on the economy and a plurality of 41 percent agree they’ve improved quality of life—while a narrow plurality of 37 percent say they have a negative impact on public safety.

The U.S. Tax Court is considering a challenge to the Internal Revenue Services’s application of the 280E penalty on a marijuana business.
A Department of Veterans Affairs spokesperson said its “work on psychedelics is at an early stage and results from these trials will be available in the years to come.”
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) tweeted, “To all those…sort of liberals who think you will move down here [to Tennessee]. No one down here smokes weed.”

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D), the attorney general and the treasurer appointed a new member to the Cannabis Control Commission. Separately, regulators could vote on rules for marijuana social use businesses by Christmas.
A member of the Colorado Natural Medicine Advisory Board is asking for an investigation into Gov. Jared Polis’s (D) top psychedelics advisor for allegedly improperly trying to “steer outcomes” on the body’s recommendation on allowing ibogaine in state healing centers.
Minnesota regulators’ rules prohibiting direct-to-consumer shipments of low-potency THC edibles are facing a legal challenge.
California regulators are moving to revise cannabis cultivation and sanitation rules.
Missouri regulators filed proposed changes to marijuana microbusiness rules.
Oregon regulators posted guidance on changes to psilocybin services rules.
