    / TOP THINGS TO KNOW

A new federal report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that while smoking marijuana remains the most common way to consume it, methods such as eating, vaping and dabbing are growing in popularity.

Maryland lawmakers sent Gov. Wes Moore (D) a bill clarifying rules for marijuana consumption lounges, laying out a plan for a second cannabis licensing lottery round and letting owners sell their businesses to employees.

The Illinois Senate passed a bill to clarify that police may not stop or detain drivers, or search their vehicles, based solely on the smell of marijuana—and to remove a requirement that cannabis be transported in odor-proof containers.

The Maine legislature’s Criminal Justice and Public Safety advanced a bill to legalize psilocybin, though panel members were divided and a plurality supported amending the legislation to simply create an advisory commission to study the issue.

The Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office is projecting more tax dollars to be generated from adult-use marijuana sales compared to what Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) has estimated, although it expects significantly less overall revenue from cannabis legalization due to differing views on licensing fees.

Bill Maher said he “wasn’t high” during his recent meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House, which he joked was a “missed opportunity.”

Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and National Council of Justice are following up on the Supreme Court’s decriminalization of marijuana with a plan to force people caught with cannabis to be evaluated for referral to drug treatment.

The Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation added another 6,000 marijuana products to a list of recalled items that the state says contained a THC concentrate that is a “potential threat to health and safety.”

    / FEDERAL

The U.S. Sentencing Commission voted to publish amendments to federal sentencing guidelines.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) posted a video expressing concerns about hemp and marijuana products.

Former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) was hired by the firm Hogan Lovells, which represents psychedelics company MindMed.

    / STATES

A senior adviser to Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) attended the groundbreaking for construction at what will be the state’s first medical cannabis cultivation facility.

A poll that appears to be from Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger’s campaign suggests she will “create a safe, transparent cannabis market in Virginia by legalizing retail marijuana sales while cracking down on illegal vape shops” and “reinvest the tax revenue from the industry into strengthening Virginia’s public schools.”

The Florida Senate Appropriations Committee on Health and Human Services approved an amendment on background checks for owners, managers and employees at medical cannabis businesses.

Minnesota regulators announced that new marijuana rules have been officially adopted.

California regulators adopted serving size, packaging and age requirement rules for consumable hemp products.

Washington State regulators sent guidance on cannabis samples and lab testing result filing.

The Alaska Marijuana Control Board will meet on Wednesday and Thursday.

Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday.
