    / TOP THINGS TO KNOW

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit ruled that the Constitution doesn’t support the federal prohibition on gun possession by all people who consume marijuana as a broad category, and that disarming must be decided on an individual basis.

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) said during a House hearing that he’s hopeful marijuana banking legislation can get across the “finish line” this session “as a result of this focus on” broader debanking issues by key committees.

The House of Representatives passed a bill to ramp up federal criminalization of fentanyl analogues—but it also contains provisions that could streamline research into Schedule I drugs like marijuana and psychedelics.

A Florida Republican senator filed a bill to expand access to medical cannabis by adding new qualifying conditions, letting out-of-state patients participate in the program, allowing doctors to issue recommendations by telehealth and waiving fees for veterans.

A Pennsylvania Republican senator who supports marijuana legalization says Gov. Josh Shapiro’s (D) cannabis plan has “no real path forward” and “undermines” the push for reform with a high tax rate that will “drive consumers to the black market.”

Washington State House and Senate committees held hearings on legislation to legalize psilocybin services through a new two-track program focused on therapy for people with mental health conditions as well as broader wellness.

A study on using psilocybin-assisted therapy to treat people with methamphetamine use disorder found that “methamphetamine craving decreased while quality of life, depression, anxiety, and stress improved.”

    / FEDERAL

President Donald Trump said he doesn’t want to deport the UK’s Prince Harry over accusations he concealed past illegal drug use when applying for a U.S. visa.

Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk tweeted an image of black cocaine and the Netflix logo, an apparent commentary on diverse film casting decisions.

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) tweeted, “Marijuana doesn’t make our families stronger, our streets safer, or our workplaces more productive. Businesses who sell federally illegal drugs — including marijuana businesses — shouldn’t get federal tax breaks. My No Deductions for Marijuana Businesses Act clarifies tax law to make sure a federally illegal product does not have a legal tax deduction.”

    / STATES

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is proposing to end a policy exempting the marijuana industry from a wholesale tax applied to other products such as cigarettes and tobacco.

A Nevada assemblymember plans to file legislation to allow kiosks for marijuana delivery at nongaming hotels in Las Vegas.

A Pennsylvania Republican senator criticized Gov. Josh Shapiro’s (D) marijuana legalization proposal, expressing fears about detecting impaired driving.

Here’s a look at South Dakota marijuana reform legislation that’s pending this session.

A federal judge rejected legal challenges to Rhode Island’s marijuana business licensing process.

Colorado regulators published guidance on marijuana pre-rolls.

Minnesota regulators launched a grant program aimed at restoring communities negatively impacted by cannabis prohibition.
