    A new House Appropriations Committee report calls on federal agencies to study “the adequacy of state marijuana regulatory frameworks” and reconsider cannabis use restrictions for government workers.

    The House Rules Committee blocked all marijuana, psychedelics and hemp amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act from floor votes—both pro- and anti-reform proposals—leaving intact an NDAA provision to prevent military branches from testing recruits for cannabis as a condition of enlistment.

    A Texas judge dismissed Attorney General Ken Paxton’s (R) lawsuit seeking to overturn a local voter-approved marijuana decriminalization law in Austin. Separate cases he has filed against other cities’ cannabis policies are still pending.

    Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) claimed that if voters approve a marijuana legalization initiative on the November ballot, “you will be able to bring 20 joints to an elementary school”—complaining again about the smell of cannabis.

    California lawmakers filed legislation to authorize a pilot program that would provide psilocybin treatment to military veterans and first responders.

    Missouri courts have only spent less than 10 percent of funds allocated to support marijuana conviction expungement efforts as officials have missed deadlines to finish the job of clearing records.
