    / TOP THINGS TO KNOW

The U.S. Supreme Court is giving marijuana companies 60 more days to file a petition in their lawsuit seeking to block federal enforcement against their in-state activities after lawyers said it “presents significant and complex constitutional issues” and that state governments that want to file briefs in the case need more time to “carefully craft their arguments.”

Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer (D) said he asked Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) for advice about marijuana laws as he weighs action on a bill to limit the kinds of restrictions counties can enact on cannabis businesses in his state.

A new poll shows that a quarter of Americans have at least partially replaced alcohol with non-alcoholic or cannabis drinks—led by Gen Z and millennials, a third of whom now regularly drink THC-based beverages.

A new scientific review concludes that psilocybin-assisted therapy “has the potential to maximize [traumatic brain injury] recovery…by reducing inflammation, promoting neuroplasticity and neuroregeneration, and alleviating associated mood disorders.”

    • “While decriminalization efforts in the United States are indicative of growing interest, its federal Schedule I classification limits rigorous scientific exploration.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement data show that so far this year the Trump administration has deported more than 600 people whose most serious convictions were marijuana-related offenses—and in three out of four cases, the offense occurred at least five years ago.

    / FEDERAL

The Drug Enforcement Administration posted tips for talking to preschoolers about drugs.

Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) tweeted, “The evidence is overwhelming. Psychedelics cure the invisible wounds of our combat veterans. Now we’re seeing others, like [former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R)], speaking to the effectiveness of these breakthrough therapies. Let’s use this momentum and normalize the use of psychedelics so that others in our society can benefit from the positive impact of these therapies, too.”

    / STATES

Oklahoma’s attorney general said he has “made it a priority to investigate all crimes related to illegal marijuana grow operations.”

A Texas senator who is running for attorney general tweeted about his support for marijuana reform, saying his bill “ends low-level arrests and supports law enforcement combating high-level crime: decriminalizes small amounts, clears misdemeanor convictions, and funds community oversight.”

A Hawaii senator spoke about a recently enacted law to expand medical cannabis access.

Montana has a new top marijuana regulator.

Alaska regulators published guidance on the treatment of marijuana products with terpenes.

Maine regulators published guidance on a marijuana product tracking training system.

Ohio’s top marijuana regulator said it’s important that officials “don’t drag our feet” in establishing rules for the market.

California regulators sent an update on various issues for marijuana business licensees.

New York regulators partnered with local police to shut down businesses that were allegedly illegally selling cannabis products.

New Jersey regulators sent a newsletter with updates on various marijuana issues.
