Members of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee voted 5-2 to defer any further action on legislation (SB 82) that sought to restrict many patients’ medical cannabis access. The measure sought to restrict patients from obtaining medical cannabis recommendations from anyone other than their primary care physician and/or certain healthcare providers recommended by their primary practitioner. The results of a new Gallup poll released last week reveal record support for cannabis policy reform in the US, with 70% of American adults surveyed saying that they believe the plant should be legal. The level of support for legalizing cannabis rose from the 68% in favor of ending prohibition recorded over the past three years, climbing to the highest point in the 54 years Gallup has been polling on the issue.
