Puerto Rican Superstar Jon Z: ‘I’m Explosive… Cannabis Helps Me Relax and Think Things Through’
“Cannabis is peace and love. It’s stupid that it’s not legal, bro.” The phrase sets the tone for Jon Z from the start. The Puerto Rican trap star speaks about marijuana with conviction, without hesitation. For him, the plant isn’t an accessory: it’s part of his life, his music, and his way of being in the world. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Jonathan Resto Quiñones, known as Jon Z, was one of the first Latin urban artists to show himself publicly with a joint in his hand. And not as a pose, but as a declaration of identity. From teenage…

Trump shared a video urging Medicare coverage of hemp-derived CBD, casting it as a senior health breakthrough and sparking cannabis debate. TL;DR Trump posted a video on Truth Social pushing Medicare coverage for hemp-derived CBD. The video, produced by The Commonwealth Project, frames CBD as the “most important senior health initiative of the century.” The group is funded by Howard Kessler, a Mar-a-Lago friend of Trump. With rescheduling stalled and GOP lawmakers divided, Medicare CBD could be Trump’s politically safer move. On Sunday night, President Donald Trump posted a video on Truth Social that could mark a turning point in…
Cannabis has long been celebrated as a medicine for nausea, from cancer patients using it during chemotherapy to everyday users who swear by its stomach-settling powers. That’s why the idea that cannabis itself could cause unrelenting bouts of nausea and vomiting once seemed absurd. Yet over the past two decades, doctors have identified a condition that appears to do just that: cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS). Is it real? CHS remains rare, but awareness is increasing among doctors and regulators. Australia, 2004 The first clear description of CHS appeared in a 2004 case series from Adelaide, Australia. Doctors reported patients who…
By Brian Vicente As the world waits for an announcement from the Trump Administration regarding rescheduling, alternatives arise. The path forward on federal marijuana policy may come from executive actions on anything from banking to Tribal sovereignty. After a years-long process, the rescheduling of cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III under the federal Controlled Substances Act (CSA) looks promising but remains uncertain. As is true in most circumstances, understanding what comes next requires a clear picture of where we have been. So, how did we get to this point, and what’s next for cannabis under Trump? Rescheduling: A Storied…
A New York Supreme Court judge has granted a preliminary injunction that protects more than 150 licensed cannabis dispensaries from being forced to relocate or shut down after the state’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) abruptly changed how it measures distance from schools. The decision is the first major victory for a coalition of operators, including ConBud, The Cannabis Place, Summit Canna, Hush, High Fade, Housing Works Cannabis Co., and Common Courtesy Dispensary. They sued the OCM in August after regulators admitted what they called a “measurement mistake.” The Injunction Signed by Judge Savona, the order blocks the OCM from…

The intersection between cannabis prohibitionism and police brutality It’s 7 pm on a Friday, and I’ve been walking home for the past half hour or so. I’m on the homestretch, and I can see my favourite fast food joint in the distance. I ran in the morning, cleaned the house, and stopped by a friend’s place to check on them. If anyone deserves a bucket of fries and half a chicken, I do. I’m lost in my thoughts, walking with my head down, hands in my pockets, Diary-of-a-Wimpy-Kid style. I don’t notice the cops standing ahead of me until they’re…

Walk into almost any dispensary today and you’ll hear it: “This one’s testing at 32%.” Budtenders pitch high-THC flower as if it were golden nuggets, consumers rush to grab the jars with the highest numbers, and brands plaster the percentage like a badge of honor. In today’s market, potency percentages aren’t just a selling point—they’ve become the entire identity of cannabis. But here’s the problem: THC percentage is one of the most misleading and manipulated metrics in the industry. Consumers think it’s the ultimate measure of quality, growers feel pressured to breed for nothing but numbers, and labs are under…
