The security guard glances at our IDs, then at us, then back at our IDs. I am 67. Diana is 64. We are not the typical pair walking into a cannabis dispensary on a weekday afternoon. We come carrying a folding table, boxes of product, and the determination of women who are not done building. Diana is my recent friend and now my business partner. We are not here to browse. We are here to sell. We set up near the glass display cases, unfolding the table and arranging our product across its surface. Diana smooths the corners of the…
When Jim Henson released The Dark Crystal in 1982, audiences didn’t quite know what to do with it. Best known as the creator of The Muppets, Henson delivered something darker and stranger: a fantasy film set on the sentient planet Thra, populated entirely by puppets, and driven by themes of power, decay, and spiritual imbalance. The film divided critics, but it quietly built a cult following that understood it as something more than a children’s story. Netflix’s 2019 prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, expands that world with political and philosophical clarity. Set generations before the original film,…
After seven Ohio deputies sued over the music videos Afroman made from footage of a 2022 raid on his home, a jury sided with the rapper in a case that became a strange, very online fight over speech, satire, and power. Afroman just pulled off one of the strangest legal wins in recent memory. On March 18, a jury found the rapper not liable on claims brought by seven Ohio sheriff’s deputies who sued him over the viral music videos he made using security footage from a 2022 raid on his home. The deputies had sought millions in damages. Instead,…

Steve DeAngelo Talks Smuggling Weed And Why Legalization Still Isn’t Working In Jerry Chu’s New Podcast Video
The first episode of Jerry Chu’s new long-form video podcast, produced with En Volá and distributed through High Times’ YouTube channel, opens with Steve DeAngelo on legacy cannabis, corporate drift, hemp wars and the legalization fight he says the industry still hasn’t finished. A new cannabis interview series just landed, and its first move was a smart one: hand the mic to Steve DeAngelo and let him go straight at the fault lines still splitting the industry apart. The debut episode of Jerry Chu and Blimburn founder Sergio Martínez’s new long-form podcast video, now live on the High Times YouTube…

The AEW star gets candid about loss, love, life on the road, and the role cannabis has played in helping her stay grounded through it all. There’s nothing subtle about Marina Shafir. I learned this last week after sitting down with the former mixed martial artist turned wrestling icon, who cheerfully sparked one up while we discussed her life, her career, and of course, her love for the plant. The daughter of professional power lifter Veniamin Shafir, Marina Shafir began her journey at six years old, when her parents signed her up for Judo. While most girls her age were…

A new survey conducted by Pew Research examined what is considered “morally acceptable” in 25 countries. From Indonesia to Brazil, from Turkey to the Netherlands, thousands of people were asked about the moral acceptability not only of certain behaviors, but also of their fellow citizens and people from other countries. The survey reveals interesting data on the opinions of people from diverse backgrounds on, shall we say, hot topics such as divorce, abortion, alcohol, weed, porn, extramarital affairs, gambling, contraception, and homosexuality. Factors such as age, gender, religion, political affiliation, and education level were also taken into account. The study offers…
