After years of surgeries, rehab and a recovery machine built for return-to-play, the former NBA forward stopped asking whether cannabis could help and started asking harder questions about how it actually worked. Al Harrington didn’t come out of basketball looking for another celebrity weed lane. He came out of it with a body that had absorbed 16 seasons of professional punishment, a long and personal relationship with the plant, and a growing suspicion that most of the recovery industry, cannabis included, wasn’t asking serious enough questions. That’s the more interesting story. Not that a former NBA star believes in cannabis.…

Fan response to the Ballers’ April Fools’ Day gag convinced the team to go all-in on an alt-identity that’s a nod to the city’s connection to cannabis culture. This article originally appeared on the High Adam newsletter. Subscribe here. A half-baked idea, repurposed as a last-minute April Fools’ Day joke, to temporarily turn the Oakland Ballers into the herb-green, pot-leaf-emblazoned Oakland Blazers has been such a big hit with fans that the baseball team has decided to officially adopt the alternate identity in the upcoming season. “Maybe it’s the first April Fools’ Day joke that we now have to do…

I try a lot of cannabis edibles. It’s my preferred format for the predictability, easy dosing, and because I love a little treat. Don’t get me wrong, nothing beats a perfectly rolled joint, but there’s something inherently more enjoyable to me in having edibles in my rotation.  A good edible should taste delicious (why would I compromise on flavor just for a buzz?), come on easy and gradually taper off, and include more than one cannabinoid. At least, that’s my preference. Rare Cannabinoid Company ended up being one of those brands for me—the kind you don’t just try once, but…
