The white ash conversation has been positively insufferable. Heady bois and cannabis connoisseurs from coast to coast have been posting videos of their ash on Instagram for what feels like years now, indicating that they’re smoking top shelf product solely based on the color of the ash. As much as I hate to disappoint, not only is white ash not an accurate metric of quality, it can be easily faked, gamed, cheated, duped and bamboozled using particular cultivation techniques, smoking methods, and as shown by recent court documents: adding small amounts of chalk to the rolling paper. Recently unsealed documents…

HB698 passes the Senate with bipartisan support Members of the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate gave final approval today to legislation that would legalize and regulate the retail sale of cannabis to adults 21 and older. HB698 and SB448 passed with one Republican voting in favor of final passage in each chamber. The measures would begin adult-use cannabis retail sales on May 1, 2025 with a tax rate of 11.625% in lieu of any state or local retail sales tax. NORML’s JM Pedini suggests amendments to SB448 NORML Development Director JM Pedini testified in support of both bills. Pedini’s…

Republican-backed legislative efforts to impose arbitrary THC potency caps on certain cannabis products are likely dead for the session. House Bill 1269 and Senate Bill 7050 sought to preemptively ban adults’ access to cannabis flower products containing more than 30 percent THC. While adult-use cannabis products are not yet legal in Florida, voters may have the opportunity to decide on the issue in November. Senate members failed to advance SB 7050 to the floor, and they are unlikely to consider the House’s version of the bill. NORML actively opposed both bills. A pre-written letter provided by NORML was sent to…

The study, entitled “An answered call for aid? Cannabinoid clinical framework for the opioid epidemic,” was published in Harm Reduction Journal. Researchers provided an evidence-based clinical framework for the utilization of cannabinoids to treat…

A study, published in the journal Nature Biomedical Engineering, centers around a model used to determine which drugs may interfere with one another if taken together.  “In vitro systems that accurately model in vivo conditions in the gastrointestinal tract may aid the development of oral drugs with greater bioavailability,” the researchers wrote.  “Here we show that the interaction profiles between drugs and intestinal drug transporters can be obtained by modulating transporter expression in intact porcine tissue explants via the ultrasound-mediated delivery of small interfering RNAs and that the interaction profiles can be classified via a random forest model trained on…
