    The Consumer Brands Association—which represents major consumer packaged goods and retail companies—sent a letter urging Congress to recriminalize intoxicating hemp products.

    A coalition of beer, wine and spirits wholesalers sent a letter urging congressional leaders not to recriminalize intoxicating hemp consumables as “demand for alcohol has shifted downwards in recent years”—saying lawmakers should instead “effectively regulate and tax these products like alcohol.”

    Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) warned people thinking about buying marijuana under a Native American tribe’s new plan that they do so “at their own peril”—calling cannabis a “poison” that causes psychosis and crime.

    The Maryland Task Force on Responsible Use of Natural Psychedelic Substances published a report recommending a “phased implementation” of legalization, with “complementary elements from medical/therapeutic use and supervised adult use, to deprioritization, and to commercial sales”—starting with psilocybin.

    A new NORML analysis of FBI data shows that “marijuana-related prosecutions remain the primary driver of drug war enforcement in those states where cannabis remains criminalized”—with marijuana arrests accounting for nearly half of all drug busts in more than a dozen states last year.

    The South Dakota legislature’s Medical Marijuana Oversight Committee adopted motions recommending tighter regulations on medical cannabis and intoxicating hemp products.

    A new Oklahoma law bans drivers and passengers from smoking or consuming marijuana in vehicles.

    U.S. Virgin Islands regulators are accepting cannabis manufacturing license applications.

    Minnesota regulators are accepting hemp cultivation and processing license applications.

    Rhode Island regulators launched an education campaign to promote lower-risk cannabis practices.
