    The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to consider whether a federal law restricting the gun rights of people who consume marijuana or other illegal drugs is constitutional, taking up a case where the Trump administration said such individuals “pose a clear danger of misusing firearms.”

    President Donald Trump appointed Mark Savaya, who founded the Leaf & Bud chain of marijuana dispensaries in Michigan and caused local controversy with an aggressive billboard marketing strategy, as his special envoy to Iraq.

    Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) told Marijuana Moment that it’s “extremely concerning the Trump administration continues to drag its feet” on a pending cannabis rescheduling proposal that President Donald Trump pledged to enact during his campaign last year.

    A Florida marijuana campaign is suing the secretary of state to reverse an effort to invalidate upwards of 200,000 voter signatures on petitions to place a legalization initiative on the 2026 ballot.

    The Ohio House Judiciary Committee is expected to consider legislation to revise the state’s marijuana and hemp laws this week, with the House speaker saying that “the prohibitionists have largely lost this discussion.”

    Former narcotics prosecutor Victoria Cvitanovic argues in a new Marijuana Moment op-ed that New York lawmakers should pass a bill to legalize psilocybin therapy, saying psychedelic reform is “the seed of a new paradigm: replacing fear with healing, stigma with science, punishment with care.”
