    Solicitor General D. John Sauer is asking the U.S. Supreme Court for more time to decide whether the Trump administration will challenge an appeals court ruling concerning the federal prohibition on gun ownership by people who consume marijuana.

    The Texas Senate passed a bill to block cities from putting initiatives on local ballots to decriminalize marijuana or other controlled substances.

    Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America members met with congressional lawmakers on Capitol Hill to push for a federal regulatory framework for intoxicating hemp-derived products such as cannabinoid-infused beverages.

    A new study published by the American Medical Association and funded by the Canadian government shows that after the country legalized recreational marijuana, “cannabis use frequency increased significantly overall while misuse decreased.”

    Justin Botillier of Calyx CPA argues in a new Marijuana Moment op-ed that cannabis companies may not need to wait for the rescheduling process to be completed in order to start avoiding the 280E tax penalty—due to the specific wording of the law.

    Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) signed a bill directing the Tobacco Control Board to regulate hemp products.

    An investigation into a former Oregon secretary of state who resigned amid controversy over a marijuana program audit that was conducted while she did outside work for a cannabis company ended without criminal charges.

    The California Assembly Business and Professions Committee approved a bill to halt a planned cannabis excise tax increase.

    The Oklahoma Senate Public Safety Committee approved a bill to decrease the amount of marijuana that is considered an aggravated trafficking offense from 1,000 pounds to 25 pounds.

    Alabama regulators reacted to a judge’s ruling that again halts the medical cannabis business licensing process.

    Missouri regulators posted guidance on marijuana packaging, labeling and product design.

    Michigan’s auditor general published a report on marijuana regulators’ implementation of previous recommendations.

    The executive director of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board spoke about its latest changes to rules concerning past marijuana use by police recruits.

    The Maryland Department of Commerce published a profile of one of the state’s cannabis companies.
