Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) filed a bill to require Elon Musk and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees to pass a drug test and participate in random drug testing in order to retain their special government employee status.
Virginia lawmakers upheld Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s (R) vetoes of legislation to legalize recreational marijuana sales, provide resentencing relief for people with past convictions and protect parental rights of cannabis consumers, but they rejected his proposed amendments to a medical cannabis bill that would have limited delivery options for patients.
The Ohio House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on a bill to alter the state’s voter-approved marijuana legalization law, adopting an amendment to make additional changes to provisions on equity, licensing and tax revenue distribution.
A poll finds that Pennsylvania voters prefer to legalize marijuana with a traditional model of licensed private businesses that is used in other states rather than have cannabis sales be carried out in a system of state-run stores, as has been proposed by some lawmakers.
A new study of people with atopic dermatitis, commonly referred to as eczema, found that topical therapy containing the marijuana components cannabidiol and cannabigerol “is effective in reducing itching and improving the quality of life of patients…leading to symptom remission in some cases.”
Attorneys for the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission and the campaign behind the state’s voter-approved medical marijuana initiatives filed court briefs saying that a GOP former senator’s lawsuit seeking to overturn the policy is “meritless” and seeks to create a “false conflict.”

The Minnesota House Commerce Finance and Policy Committee approved an omnibus cannabis bill.
Delaware’s House majority whip said lawmakers plan to act quickly to address a fingerprinting background check dispute between the state and the Federal Bureau of Investigation that threatens to further delay the launch of the recreational marijuana market.
A Pennsylvania senator said he will soon introduce a bill to create a Cannabis Control Board to assume oversight of both the state’s medical Mmarijuana program as well as currently unregulated cannabis products.
Missouri regulators published revised documents concerning marijuana product recalls.
Nevada regulators published guidance on the determination of fair market value of wholesale cannabis.
Arizona regulators posted guidance about marijuana tax rates.
New York’s acting top marijuana regulator said the state could see $1.5 billion in legal cannabis product sales this year.
Colorado regulators sent a reminder that high altitudes can potentially increase impairment from cannabis or alcohol.
