    Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) argued in an interview with Marijuana Moment that the Trump administration’s efforts to cut government spending and the federal workforce will help advance psychedelics reform by giving agencies “spines” to tackle such complex issues.

    The Food and Drug Administration sent a warning letter to a cannabis company about its “especially concerning” injectable CBD product, alleging it has made unsanctioned claims about its potential health benefits.

    A Pennsylvania representative filed a bill to protect medical cannabis patients from being charged with driving under the influence when they are not actually impaired behind the wheel.

    A new study concluded that “medical cannabis products, particularly non-flower formulations, represent a cost-effective adjunctive therapy for moderate PTSD under various reimbursement scenarios.”

    • “The possibility that medical cannabis could substitute for other PTSD medications, such as opioids and benzodiazepines, also warrants deeper investigation, as it may yield further health and economic benefit.”

    South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden (R) signed a bill to defelonize the ingestion of illegal drugs on first and second offenses.

    The Minnesota Senate State Government Committee rejected amendments to slow down and force transparency in ongoing cannabis compact negotiations between Gov. Tim Walz (D) and the state’s tribal nations.

    The Missouri House General Laws Committee rejected a bill to regulate hemp-derived beverages and edibles.

    The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission extended the period of time that marijuana delivery licenses will be restricted to social equity applicants for another year but declined to make a decision on whether to extend further.

    / FEDERAL

    The U.S. Forest Service told the California Department of Fish and Wildlife it will not proceed with a nearly $1 million grant awarded by the state to support efforts to remove waste from illicit marijuana growing operations on federal lands.

    The Drug Enforcement Administration promoted an article about actor David Krumholtz saying he “almost died” from cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.

    The Senate passed a bill to permanently classify fentanyl-related substances in Schedule I.

    / STATES

    Oklahoma’s attorney general celebrated the Trump administration’s dropping a challenge to a state immigration law, saying it will “enable Oklahoma law enforcement to crack down on the illegal marijuana operations that have infested our state.”

    The Ohio House Finance Committee chairman said lawmakers will seek to remove Gov. Mike DeWine’s (R) proposed increase of marijuana taxes from budget legislation.

    New York lawmakers filed legislation aimed at reducing consumption of cannabis edibles by children.

    Maryland’s comptroller reported that the state collected nearly $73 million in tax revenue adult-use cannabis tax revenue in 2024, with $17.6 million generated in the final quarter of the year.

    California regulators filed changes to cannabis cultivation rules. Separately, they announced a recall of marijuana products due to incomplete and incorrect regulatory compliance testing.

    Washington State regulators finalized rules on sales of cannabis waste.

    Oregon regulators issued a bulletin about armed robberies and burglaries at marijuana businesses.

    Colorado regulators issued a notice about psychedelics sales fraud and scams.

    Missouri regulators issued a request for proposals to conduct a cannabis market study.

    The New York Cannabis Control Board will meet on Thursday.
